Why we started SkinOrSkip
Most skincare advice online is written for cold, dry climates and imported products that cost more than a week's groceries. That doesn't reflect what most of us are working with: humid summers, hard tap water, pollution, intense sun, and a budget that has to stretch across rent, food, and everything else.
SkinOrSkip is built around one question for every product: is this actually worth it for someone living with Indian skin, Indian weather, and a real budget? If yes, we say skin it. If not, we say skip it — clearly, without hedging.
How we test
- Climate-matched testing: Every product is judged against humidity, heat, and hard water — not a lab in a temperate country.
- Budget-first: We prioritize products under ₹500 wherever a good option exists, and always name a cheaper dupe if one is worth it.
- Skin-tone honesty: Sunscreens and actives are checked for white cast and compatibility with a range of Indian skin tones.
- The SkinOrSkip Score: Every review ends with a simple score covering effectiveness, value for money, and everyday wearability.
Who this is for
Students living in hostels, people just starting their first job, and anyone who wants a skincare routine that doesn't require a dressing table full of imported products. We write for people who want the answer, not a 2,000-word essay before we get to the point — though occasionally we still write 2,000 words, because the ingredients deserve it.
